Rare Man's Linen Shirt

Lovely medium weight fine linen.


Cataloguing

The deep collar with two original Dorset buttons and embroidered buttonholes, the front opening with a further five (replacement) buttons, the shoulders with double thickness inserts gathered into the high neck, a further double thickness to the shoulder front, the sleeves tightly gathered with a triangular insert below, the cuffs with a Dorset button, very full body, side splits with double triangular inserts, G F 11 in red cotton embroidered above lower left hand slit.



 


Condition

Very fresh looking. The side of the collar has a large darn 2 1/2 x 1 in; 7 x 2/5cm, but when you look inside the collar there is no tear!  One of the neck Dorset buttons is a little rubbed. The lower right hand slit is badly damaged and needs some attention.
