Women's Linen Chemise
Late 18th century
This simple linen chemise has a small curved decorative inset of needlelace at the base of the neck opening. The linen is not too heavy, so would have been worn by a middling type of woman.
Cataloguing
Of T shape with full length inset panels from mid armpit to hem, another triangular inset panel below each sleeve, the neck opening with a very fine plaited linen trim, the neck area lined with a linen braid, a F embroidered in black cotton to one side of the opening, and indistinct initial to the other.

Condition
There is a feint pale brownish horizontal mark across the breast area, perhaps from when it was folded. A couple of similar colour marks to either side of the front opening. The back has a couple of similar marks.
