Indian Chintz Panel
18th century

Wonderful design hand drawn and painted, resist and mordant dyed, influenced by European silk designs. Influenced by silk designs and produced for the Western market, on the Coromandel Coast, India. There is a label sewn to the lower edge which states the length was in the archive of the French fabric manufacturer Besselfevre Fils & Cie, Maromme, (France) who bought it on 20th October 1919. Great for a designer.
