Charming bird hand painted, resist and mordant dyed from the Coromandel Coast, south-east India and produced for the export market in Europe. Vegetable and mineral dyes.


Cataloguing

A bird glancing backwards surrounded by large flowers and leaves in shades of deep pink, purple and blue grey, with touches of gold coloured dyes, on a cream cotton ground.

Condition

Very good apart from two small light yellow marks below the large top flower. Machine stitched to three sides, the top raw edge.
