Stole
c 1830

Although the stole is exquisite in design and colouring it has been reduced . This must have been altered a long time ago because of all the darns to the centre field. No one would reduce the size of a shawl to a stole leaving a damaged centre. The damage must have ocurred later. Extremely soft and delicate pashmina. Soft subdued colouring.

Cataloguing

the ivory pashmina with deep end borders filled with three and a half upright pines with gently turning tips, filled with and surrounded by small flowers and foliage, between guard stripes with interlocking foliage, doubel side borders with trailing flower meanders or stylised flower heads, 8ft x2 ft 3 in; 2.50 x 68 cm, reduced from a larger shawl.

Condition

The centre has some quite large darns, some using wool so they are a little bulky. Also some staining to one end, tea colour. Photos available of damage.
