Early 19th c
Very rare. Worn with a frilled shirt. Great for a collector describing the layers of clothing worn. These were worn to bulk up the gentleman’s neck for the fashionable look circa 1800 – 1810.
Cataloguing
possibly an under stock of white linen gently curved down at ends, one large hole hand embroidered as if a buttonhole, for tapes to thread through, tapes to each end, 3 in or 8 cm centre depth x 23 in or 59 cm length.
Condition
Very good apart from two small marks to inside.
