SOLD

May Morris Anemone Tablecover
1890's

I have sold a few similar tablecloths over the years but none have had the embroidery in the corners emeging onto the silk centre. The colour combination is rather unusual, in that usually soft pastel shades are used.

Cataloguing

the border embroidered in thick floss silks with two types of flowers amongst acanthus type leaves, in shades of cream with touches of lime green and mid blue with nutmeg coloured stamens, the background in nutmeg silks, the corners with the leaves emerging onto the cream twill weave silk centre, guard stripes of similar shades silks, 35 in or 89 cm sq

Condition

The embroidrey is in excellent condition. The silk centre, which I feel fairly sure is the original has some markings and a 1 in or 2.5 split,  which you should be able to see from the photo. For close ups ask for further photos.
