Honeysuckle Firescreen
c 1880

A beautiful embroidery in a very elegant frame. William Morris designed Honeysuckle in 1876. A very complex pattern it was used as a block print onto silk, linen, cotton, challis and velveteen.

The embroidery designs, such as this one, were sold at the Royal School of Needlework in 1876 and marketed as kits, sold with the silks and with the pattern printed onto the linen.
