Gown with Peplum

I've never seen a peplum to waist back before. I decided not to put a petticoat on the mannequin, so you could see just how fine the muslin is. This would have been hand embroidered.



 


Cataloguing

The white muslin embroidered with cotton flower sprigs, the shallow bodice with drawstring ties to the neck, bust darts running from top of the bodice to the bottom, the long simple sleeves, set well back in the back of the bodice, edged with hand made needlelace, the upper sleeve lined with cotton, the fall front skirt with three tucked bands to the hem, the back bodice with two central seams from top to bottom of the bodice, a frill under the bodice to the back skirt, under a tightly gathered skirt, pocket slit to the right hand side.
