Carnations Slip
c 1660
This large needlework slip would have been sewn to a wool or velvet pelmet, for a four poster bed. It was embrodiered in the Stuart period during the reign of Charles II. This just needs a frame to hang.
Cataloguing
A spray of pinks or carnations in soft shades of pink, yellow with similar shaded buds, the elegant elongated leaves in shades of green,with veins in lighter green,
Now hand stitched to a old coarse linen, wrapped round acid free board and secured with tape, ready for a frame.
11 in; 28 cm square
