Persian Kerman Embroidery
Third quarter 19th c

This must be the central part of a shawl. It could now be used for a throw or table cover, which is why I have included it in this section and not with shawls.Very good colours and embroidery. Made in an area south east of Isfahan. The red dye is probably from the Kermes insect, long used in the area. Worked by women for thier own use*
