Robe Anglais & Petticoat
1770-80

This robe is the most beautiful old gold shade of silk and must have looked marvellous by candlelight.  It is not in the best condition but looks good when dressed on a mannequin.  There are some curious features such as the flap to the bodice and the buttons either side of the lower waist. The shallow apron to the skirt is also a feature I have not seen before.

This would be good for a designer or re-enactor for copying, or if you can't afford a robe in better condition.
