Man's Leather Boot
Late 15th/early 16th c

Incredible to discover pieces so old and still in tact.

Cataloguing

An ankle boot for the right foot, with a one-piece upper with four front lacing holes on either side of the throat, the leather lace still in situ on one side, three further holes on either side of the ankle covered area, the tongue in situ, leather stitches visible, a side seam on the inner side towards the back, the sole another piece.

The sole 8 3/4 in; 22 cm

widest part of the sole 3 1/2 in; 8.5 cm

Condition

As you will see these are in a very worn condition, but great to see the original leather lacing. Allthe seams are loose but I think held together with original thread.

There is a large hole to the sole approx 2 x 3/4 in or 5 x 2.5 and another near the heel 1.5 cm dia. The sole is secured to the boot by threads, I think original. Do ask for more photos.
