Turkey Red
19th c

Turkey Red is made from the madder root. This has a feel of viyella which is made from a blend of wool and cotton first woven in 1893 in England, and soon to be the first branded fabric in the world.


Cataloguing

The scarlet turkey red wool and cotton ground woven with a twill weave, printed with  trails of five petalled leaves in green, ivory and black filled with stylised flowerheads, on curving stems, using red, blue, yellow, green, black and ivory dyes, two selvedges.
