Naval Trousers
Early 19th c.

I assume these are naval because the brass buttons have a twisted rope on them!


Cataloguing

The strong white duck fabric trousers with front waist with five brass buttons with rope type decoration, the left hand side cut away in a curve for a pocket, all above a fall front flap with a further four brass buttons, two slanting slits reveal deep pockets, the back with a further two brass buttons to the top on a shaped back seam, wide straight legs, inside back written in ink with initials EHS.



Waist: 27 in; 68 cm



Hips: 30 in; 76 cm.



 


Condition

Very good. The inside edges are quite frayed, presumably from washing. There is the slightest mark, large pinhead size, to front right hand side. The lower left front leg has a slight stain 1 1/4 in; 3 cm diameter. The back left leg 7 in; 18 cm from the hem has a very small slight wear mark and light brown stain.
