Embroidered Waistcoat
1850-60

A nice quality waistcoat with good embroidery.


Cataloguing

Cream fine wool embroidered in cream twisted silks flowre meanders to the collar and front of the waistcoat, also to the slit slanting pockets, five embroidered wood covered buttons, hand stitched buttonholes, a slightly raised collar, a short dart to the lower armhole, the back with cotton and a metal two prong buckle and ties, lined with off white cotton.



Underarm 35 1/2 in; 90 cm.



Back top of collar 19 in; 49 cm.



Front shoulder to pointed lower front 21 1/2 in; 55 cm.


Condition

Very good. Two pin prick holes to one side. The inside collar is very slightly grubby. The back buckle is rusty and there are markings (probably blood) near the buckle area. Ask for photo.
