Summer Dress
1820s

From the collection of the late Mrs June Jeffreys (1928 – 2016) who married George William Eyre Jeffreys (1931 - 2019) in 1960. The house Newhouse, Redlynch, near Salisbury, Wiltshire, has been in the family for 400 years and many of the dress collection was inherited through Mr Jeffrey’s family.

Very attractive design and colouring.

A seperate matching belt.

Condition

Very fresh looking. The front left side bodice, as you look at the dress, has a small 3/4 in; 1.5 cm hole. There is enough fabric on the inside to use for repair. The bodice front right hand side has a few blackish marks and a tiny pin head hole. The front skirt has a small darn near the waist and one very very small hole to the lower area. The skirt has slightly faded all the way round, but the bodice has'nt, which I don't quite understand. Takes a while and only when you scrutinise to realise.
