Scottish Glengary

So unusual having flower embroidery. Glengaries were worn by Highlanders as part of military dress. Could this have been for a wedding?

The fine black facecloth wool ground embroidered in fine wool tent stitch to the crown with dense sprays of flowers in red, orange, yellow, pale and richer green, mauve, purple, pink and shades of blue, a red and black chenille tassel to the centre crown, the two sides similar worked, the lower edges with a meandering pink and red roses and leaves, the back with a silk taffeta ribbon, the lining similar.
Approx 10 in; 26 cm long.
Condition
Very very good. The colours are bright and unfaded. The tassel is quite worn. There are a few moth holes to the top section in a line approximately 3 cm long.
