					<description>&lt;p&gt;A cornucopia with diagonal leaves filled with a huge display of roses and exotic Eastern flowers, hand drawn and painted, resist and mordant dyed, in shades of madder, indigo and magnesium (aubergine) on a natural fine cotton, one panel with a wavy rope type border.&lt;/p&gt;

					<title>RARE Chinese Export  - 1730-40s</title>
					<description>&lt;p&gt;The design with enormous exotic seed pods hanging from branches of foliage with flowers, the background of rich blue satin, with foliage in a matt weave.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The blue silk damask skirt with a wide flat knife pleating to the front 6 in; 16 cm wide, flanked by fine pleating 1 cm wide attached to a narrow pale blue woven linen&amp;nbsp;waistband, the right hand side with a large brass hook and eye above a open side 12 in; 30 cm, edged in finest pale blue cord flanking a wider tape 1 1/4 in; 3 cm&amp;nbsp; the hem with similar narrow cording.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Chinese silk measures selvedge to selvedge 29 in; 74 cm.&amp;nbsp; The selvedges are red and yellow twill weave. Every 5 1/ 2 in;14 cm the selvedge has a small French type knot in blue&amp;nbsp; silk thead. I have not seen these before on selvedges. There are eight full widths in the skirt.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;There is no pattern repeat.The design is large and is the full length of the skirt 39 in; 1 m.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Waist 26 1/2 in; 67 cm&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;There are two long linen tapes to the waistband. This would have been for hanging up the skirt on hooks at night.&lt;/p&gt;

London &amp;amp; Paris&lt;/em&gt; woven in yellow on a natural silk ground is sewn to the inside of the cream satin frilled collar, the collar gathered into the yoke, four hook and eye and loop fastenings and two long cream satin ties, the silk brocade woven with cream, edged beige elongated cloud like motifs on a pale blue ground, lined with a heavy cream supple satin, with two large loops (to put your arms through)&amp;nbsp;and a&amp;nbsp; large deep vertically pleated pocket.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

					<description>&lt;p&gt;With gently rolled collar, wide sleeves with deep cuffs with a sewn line for decoration, gently falling front, no fastenings, the back with central seam, curving seams from mid armhole to lowered waist, the full skirts with two wide pleats and three gores, two deep slit pockets to the side seams, lined in brillant yellow Indian silk which is stitched in diagonals and crosses (quilted) to the skirt wadding, probably Japanese silk, all hand stitched.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Hand block printed silk stripes of apricot alternating with fawn, both with minute deep red and fawn flowers attached by curving lines.&lt;/p&gt;

(initials) 456 Regent Street successor of RENAULT&amp;nbsp; &amp;amp; DUMAS from Paris. London&lt;/em&gt;. a small one with &lt;em&gt;Droit, 27/- &lt;/em&gt;(27 shillings now &amp;pound;2. 3s), as well as &lt;em&gt;37&amp;nbsp;&lt;/em&gt;witten in ink, the other shoe with &lt;em&gt;Gauche,27/- and 37 written in ink, the leather soles stamped 37/27.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;9 1/2 in; 24 cm.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The natural glazed cotton shoe bag embroidered in red cotton to one end with&amp;nbsp;the initials &lt;em&gt;W.S. &lt;/em&gt;original linen tape ties.&lt;em&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
