Michael O'Connell - Late 1950s

Signed Michael O'Connell, in the bottom right corner, with his intwined monogram MOC the circuit diagram in two dimensional motifs of blocks of colour paste resist painted in rich shades of deep pink, purple mid and dark blue, on sage,the fabric a heavy coarse textured linen.

Large Knotted Coverlet - c 1817

Embroidered in blue cotton to the reverse of one corner AG to RMG, 1817. The centre with a basket of flowers including a tulip, dahlias and other species, surrounded by large vine and leaf meanders, all worked in couched white cotton cording with some embrodered French knots, on a linen ground, the fringing cotton.

RARE Tailor's Price Boards - 1860s

A light brown treacle finish over hand written information on both sides of each board. The name ie: Prussian Twill; Mixed Bedford; Buckskin Cloth etc. Type of fabric: cachemere (sic); doe; velvet etc and the prices in £ s d.

A Bolton Coverlet - c 1812

A central star with a very large medallion filled with stylised flower and leaf sprays, all surrounded by a trellis and large swags with smaller stylised flowers and leaves, the border with a swag containing a tulip and ?, all worked in white cotton tufts on a thick white cotton ground, woven with I G 1812.

Italian Mythical Beasts - Late 16th century

Pairs of mythical grotesque type sea creatures, their heads of crimson appliqué velvet couched down with triple twisted gold wraped around a yellow silk core, their elongated coiling noses entwined, with coiling tails of gold wrapped silk caught down on gold brocade. leafy sprays emerging from their backs, the creatures flanking an elaborate fire filled vessel, alternating with pairs of birds dipping their beaks into a fountain, it's base supported by a pair of cornucopia, with coiling flowers, the top and bottom borders with S shaped flower tendrils, all on a pinky crimson satin ground, lined with natural coloured linen.

The Ottoman influenced design of four leafy meandering trails with narrow tulips and motifs embroidered in rich shades of maroon and pink, blues, yellow, brown, with spangles and the main flowers outlined with gold filé thread, all on a natural cotton ground.

Woman's Riding Jacket/Spencer - 1815

A jacket or Spencer of black wool broadcloth, a double revere deep collar, the front with twenty-two silk covered buttons from shoulder to the waist, the lower waist with with five buttonholes each side, the cuff with one button and buttonhole and a metal hook and embroidered loop, the back with seams from back sleeve to high waist, a pleated tail centre back.

The inside of the jacket is lined with a tan twill weave cotton in a diamond shape, with dark brown glazed cotton surround, the sleeve interiors of same tan weave, a metal hook sewn upside down can be seen in the right hand side (for hooking up the skirt?), the cuffs of silk.

Spitalfields Apricot/Gold - 1760-70

With small bunches of flowers alternating in pink/red and pinky rust,apricot, laying on a ivory striped ground with two different bands of stripes, a gold flower and leaf meander between the bunches.

The large flat very finely plaited straw with a shallow crown, the underside rim edged with a mid-green bias tape, crudely stitched with linen thread, the crown applied with pasted linen gauze (for strengethening).

Two small fabric circles for the crown, one of madder block printed French cotton, the other French brocade in chocolate brown with pale green and silver flowers and leaves.

4 1/2 in; 12 cm diameter.

A large circle of French roller printed magenta cotton with ribbons and flowers, the blue hand painted, made up of 8 pieces.

17 1/4 in; 44 cm diameter.

Two silk brocade ribbons of sea green with ivory flowers laying on fine flattened gold tinsel, picot edging.

25 1/2 and 24 in x 2 in; 66 and 64 cm x 5 cm.

There are also a group of five small pieces of the French cotton.

A pair of cotton curtains printed bright red with large Etruscan pots and containers, each with scenes of people, in grey, grey green, dull ochre and tan and a little black.
