Aesthetic Movement 1870’s

The opening of Japan’s ports in 1853 for trading with the West was hugely influential on the Decorative Arts. Artist designers such as Bruce Talbert, Christopher Dresser and Owen Jones produced textile designs. Liberty's in Regent Street, London embraced the look employing many artist designers of the time to produce products for them. Bruce Talbot, Christopher Dresser, Owen Jones all designed textiles.
