Woven Shawls of Paisley design 1800-1870

Imitation Kashmir shawls were woven in Britain in Norwich, Edinburgh and Paisley in Scotland. Paisley managed to be the most prolific at producing shawls, the pattern became synonymous with the town. Spitalfields silk stoles from the early 19th century worn with Regency dresses and printed shawls are also highly collected.
