Dragon Robe
Late 19th c

There is a lot of movement in this robe. What is astonishing is that lemon yellow floss silks woven give a gold effect to the front of the robe.

Description

with the usual format of dragons chasing flaming pearls, woven brocade in 'gold' coloured silk thread on a mid blue ground, the deep border with tumoultous waves, the cuffs and borders woven with gold thread on an indigo ground, within narrow bands of gold beaten onto paper, 86 1/2 x 55 in drop or 220 x 140 cm .

Condition

Very crisp and fresh and unused. The gold beaten on paper edges has a little damage, but not too bad. The back of the neck is the worst place. Ask for more photos.
