Dressing Gown
1930s

Wonderfully wearable. I have just been told the brocade is Syrian. I am therefore wondering whether Bianchini Ferrier bought similar brocades from Syria*. Small Islamic horesman fighting and playing instruments. Strange subject for women's dressing gown, but it works. The overall design is exotic.

Description

The gold ground woven with small Islamic figues, some archers, on horseback, blowing horns, in crimson, mid green and blue with black and beige , all on a gold coloured ground.

A notched revered collar, long sleeves and shaped pockets, all edged with gold braid, a tie belt, similarly edged, lined in crimson silk

Shoulder to hem 52 in; 1.3 m.

Hem 86 in; 2.2 m

Condition

The outer robe very good condition. The inside lining is torn underarm. We will have a go at repairing this.
