Natalie Rothstein, curator in the Department of Textile Furnishings and Dress at the Victoria and Albert Museum began her research into these designs in the 1950s. Pictures include designs for which a silk has survived and a multitude of designs and samples showing important stylistic changes, or with a historical significance or explaining a particular technique.

The book is in excellent condition, in fact seems un read. The cover has a little wear at the corners.
