Silver Waistcoat
1790s

This example has a very bad stain to the right hand side, but the design is really nice and I thought someone could use it as an example or to copy. I like the way the edge of the waistcoat is curved at the bottom.

Description

The natural cotton ground with pointed lapels held down by self covered buttons, seven embroidered buttons, the lapels and front embroidered with deep sea green double leaf sprays, their stems of couched silver gilt and with yellow leaves, the shaped pockets with three buttons, outlined in a oval chain, the edges of the waistcoat similarly worked, the back and lining of cotton.

Condition

I'm sure you will be able to see that there is a general grubbiness to this waistcoat. The large yellow stain to the right hand side and slight brownish markings elsewhere.
