Wool Breeches
c 1790-1800

I thought the fabric was most unusual and have not seen this before.

Description

of a brown silky knitted striped weave, the front flap with three silk covered buttons, two further above and two silver ones on the waist, a small horizontal slit pocket above the fall front, the lower legs with four rounded buttons covered in same fabric as breeches, a strap with a buttonhole but no button, the back with an inserted linen V below an adjustable strap, one side with a buttonhole, but no button, two further silver buttons to either side, the waist lined with a thickish cotton.

Condition

Presumably all the buttons to the top front and back are later ones. The fabric covered leg buttons are original. The front crutch area has some bad moth holes, as I am sure you will be able to see from the photo. The back has seven holes More photos available if you cannot see the damage.
