Stunning. The tightly embroidered silk in Hispano-Moresque geometric design. Two lengths have been beautifully sewn together with needle lacing, to form a cover for probably to cover piles of textiles in the home.

Description

A stylised deisgn with large and smaller diamonds and flowers to the edges, in red double running stitch, each piece sewn together with needle lacing, the reverse brighter red, all in thick floss silks on a thick cotton ground, the edges whip stitched.

Total of 36 x.46 in/ 92 x 116

Condition

One side has evenly faded, but as the embroidery is reversible you could display the richer side. The workmanship on these pieces is remarkable. They were used to cover bedding.
