I love these early couched and embroidered rich velvet lengths, which look good hung on a wall or laid on a piece of furniture.
The crimson velvet ground embroidered and couched with gold filé threads and silk embroidery, slight padding to the motifs, with three motifs of urns of fruit flanked by leaves and flowers, glod braid edging, unlined.
40 x 9 in; 103 x 23 cm.
You should be able to see from the photos that there is a little wear to some of the motifs, where the gold has been worn away exposing the silk beneath. The crimson velvet is also a little rubbed here are there, but considering these pieces were used you can't expect them to be in mint condition. The wear enhances the age.
