This highly decorative length in wonderful colours would look marvellous as a hanging or as a runner on a piece of furniture. The old gold braid and lining were probably added in the mid 20th c.
Large flowers and leaves flanking a central leaf motif, with gold, green and grey silks, some brocades, appliqué and embroidered in yellow, blue, caramel and taupe floss silks, some flowers with French knot centres, outlined in narrow fine linen braid, appliqué to a red velvet ground, the edges with a later wide woven gold braid, lined in linen.
6ft 10 in x 13 in; 33 cm x 207 x 32 cm wide
Some of the embroidery has worn to reveal the silks below, but this enhances its age - after all it is late 17th century!
