The central motif is no doubt homage to Allah. The gold work metal threads are laid over paper to give a raised effect. Very attractive.
The rose pink twill weave wool ground emrbodered with goldwork, the curved flap with central calligraphy flanked by small flower sprays, outlined in a leafy meander, edged with gold lace, the lower section with similar leafy meander decoration, opening to reveal a rose pink cotton lining, the back of same plain wool
When the flap is opened you can see the wool has slightly faded. The back is also fresh original colour. A small hole under the flap and a split 3/4 in; 2 cm long to the back.
