So interesting to see a hand block printed border, waiting to be embroidered. I can sell these seperately. 

The Japanese inspired embroidered border may have been worked by the ladies of The Leek Embroidery Society or by a very proficient amateur from a kit.

Elizabeth Wardle who formed The Leek Embroidery Society also produced a replica of the Bayeux Tapestry (actually an embroidery) in 1885, now in Reading Museum.

Description

Embroidered with bronze, ivory, green and brown floss silks, the flower centres with spangles, all outlined in couched gold thread, amongst leafy sprays, on a natural Tussur silk ground. 

3 3/4 x 17 in; 10 x 43 cm.
