A stunning shawl which belonged to a collector. It has been cleaned.
The large central circle or moon woven with rows of small flowerheads on curling stems, the main ground with with small botehs laying across larger botehs with long curling tips, surrounded by stylised flowerheads and pointed trees, the quarter moons similar to central moon, two sides with a border containing stylised large flowerheads and foliage, mainly in red but with indigo, mid blue, pink, ivory and soft ochre,
5 ft x 53 in; 1.52 x 1.35 m
As you will clearly see the shawl has had two opposing borders removed. I expect they got damaged. The two existing borders have their fringing missing. Never the less this is a stunning shawl and would look good on a table, sofa or mounted.
