Most sumptous brocade with large dramatic motifs. This would have been a sleeved waistcoat worn under a plainish fabric coat.

Description

The dark green damask ground woven with small leaves, brocaded with large motifs , including huge seeded pods, smaller pomegrante type fruit, two other fruits, large leaves and some bizarre motifs including a tree emerging from a hillock with a rectangular shape below, an aquaduct?, another knarled tree with a rectangle beside the hillocky, pockets with three buttonholes,

The waistcoat with round neck, the front opening with twelve open buttonholes and nine closed, wide skirts, the reverse with several inserts centre back and side back, lined in linen.

 

 

Condition

Sleeves missing. 9 buttons remaining. but all buttons missing from pockets
