Acanthus printed velveteen furnishing fabric, designed by William Morris, printed by Thomas and Arthur Wardle Ltd. for Morris & Company, England, 1875. Not in great condition but such a beautiful colour.
Huge acanthus leaves swirling and coiling to the sides of each panel enclosing exotic blooms and foliage, in soft red on natural ground.
Pattern repeat 21 in; 54 cm.
8ft 4 in x 47 in; 2.50 x 1.2 m long. Two lengths joined.
As you will see from the photos this is not in the best condition! Fading and holes and odd paint spot, but so beautiful!
